Community Practice
Everyone is welcome to attend our regular community meditation times. Participation is free of charge. For the latest schedule information check our center calendar.
Our regular community practice opportunities open to everyone include:
- Tuesday Evening Meditation: 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM followed by tea and cookies.
We offer free initial meditation instruction every week at the beginning of our Tuesday evening sitting (7-8 pm). If you would like to receive meditation instruction, please arrive at the Center a few minutes before 7:00 pm and ask to receive instruction.
- On the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month, we have our Tuesday Evening Open House which includes: meditation, followed by a short dharma talk or video and discussion, ending at about 8:30 pm followed by tea and cookies.
- Thursday Evening Meditation: 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
- On the first Thursday of the month, practice is followed by a short talk by a community member and a short discussion, finishing by 7 pm.
- The Young Meditator's Group meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm after Thursday Evening Meditation.
- Sunday Morning Community Practice (formerly called Nyinthun): 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, from 9:30 am - 12:15 pm.
We offer free initial meditation instruction at 9:00 am preceding the start of community practice and follow-up meditation instruction beginning at 9:45 am.
- Schedule:
- 9:00 - 9:30 AM: First Time Group Meditation Instruction (In the Main Shrine Room)
- 9:30 – 11:00 AM : Meditation (Main Shrine Room).
- 9:45 - 11:00 AM : Follow-Up Individual Meditation Instruction ( in the Vajrayana Shrine Room)
- 11:00 – 11:30 AM : Social Time with Refreshments.
- 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM : Teachings and Discussion (Main Shrine Room)
When there is not an event scheduled, additional Sunday mediation practice may be held on the 2nd & 4th Sundays. Check our center calendar for when these extra practice times are offered.
- Shambhala Kids' Club, supports families to be able to practice at the Center on the Third Sunday of each month from 9:30 - 11:00 AM.
- Maitri Bhavana practiced during Sunday Morning Community Practice on the first Sunday of each month.
Our regular community practice opportunities for authorized advanced students include:
- Ashe Society: Takes place on most fourth Thursdays of the month. Check our center calendar to confirm.
- Werma Feast: Takes place monthly. Be sure to double check our center calendar for any date changes.
- Padmasambhava Feast: Takes place every other month on the 10th lunar day. Be sure to double check our center calendar for any date changes.
- Vajrayogini Feast: Held every other monthly on the 25th lunar day. Be sure to double check our center calendar for any changes.
