Star Gazing Party - Larch Mountain
Fri October 5th: 6:30 PM - 10:30 PM In Room(s): Off Site Join us for an evening of late summer star gazing on Larch Mountain. We'll carpool from the Shambhala Center up to Larch Mountain (about an hour) and hike a short uphill 1/4 mile to the viewpoint. Mark Douglass and his son Scotty will bring their 8" refractor telescope for viewing the planets, stars, and galaxies that are visible at that time of year. We'll head home after a couple hours (10:30 pm or so).
Bring: your telescope if you have one, a jacket, folding chair, gas money for the driver, and snacks if you want them. Flashlights should be covered in red cellophane or have a red filter of some sort (helps the eyes stay adjusted to the darkness).
Meeting time: 6:30pm
Meeting location: Portland Shambhala Center
Drive time: 1hr each way
Event Leader: Mark Douglass.
