Culmination of the Heart of Warriorship Series & the Everyday Life Series

Prerequisites: Shambhala Training Level V & Wisdom in Everyday Life; or previous completion of the Sacred Path Series

The Rigden Weekend, led by Acharya Susan Chapman, shows how contentment, joy, fearlessness and wisdom of the Way of Shambhala I culminate in unconditional confidence - the foundation of being a Shambhala warrior in the world. Introducing practices of windhorse and drala that may be naturally applied to everyday experience and challenges, this program provides a fundamental step in our journey. With the great problems now facing human society, it seems increasingly important to draw on the confidence we cultivate as warriors, and in our warrior communities, to bring compassionate leadership to the world, even in small ways.

This weekend completes the Way of Shambhala Heart of Warriorship Series & Everyday Life Series.  By the wishes of the Sakyong, the Rigden Weekend includes the opportunity to take the new Shambhala Vow and receive a Shambhala Name. The Shambhala Vow is an acknowledgement and proclamation that basic goodness is the essential nature of humanity. Family and friends of participants are welcome to witness the vow ceremony on Sunday at 4pm and attend the reception afterward.

Note: All advanced students - those who have completed Sacred Path or beyond - are also invited to attend this profound and spirited program.

Acharya Susan Chapman has been a student of Shambhala since 1974. She has an MA in Buddhist and Western Psychology from Naropa University, worked with victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, and is a licensed Marital and Family Therapist. She has one grown child. With her husband Jerry she founded the Juneau Shambhala Center and later completed Gampo Abbey's three year retreat, where she went on to serve as druppon "retreat leader" for six more years. After moving back to Vancouver, Susan started Green Zone Conversations which offers workshops and training in mindful communication, and is on the faculty of Karuna Training, teaching twice yearly in Europe. She was empowered as a Shastri in 2010 and in 2012 was empowered as an Acharya by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. In April she published her book, The Five Keys to Mindful Communication
