Ikebana practice

Ann Emmett passes these thoughts along about her experience of regular Ikebana practice:

Ikebana practice for me helps me to slow down, wake up,  appreciate the beauty of the flowers and other plant material I am using, the choice of colors, texture and design.  I can temporarily lose myself in the “ikebana zone” just like I seem to be able to do with gardening or other activities that I truly love.

The practice is always different depending on my state of mind and who I practice with but what is constant is that after practice I am typically feeling renewed, grateful for the beauty in the world, for the friends that are   practicing with me and that I can contribute to the creation of a supportive practice environment for my fellow sangha members and visitors to the Center!!   We are lucky to have Lisa Stanley as not only our Center Director but also as a senior ikebana teacher !!!  If you have an interest in ikebana please check out our web site for classes and join us in practice!!  We are a welcoming group!!
