Happy Fall — the equinox is here! That means our Harvest of Peace Celebration, Pot Luck, Fundraiser and Sadhana of Kindness practice. It's on Sunday, September 22, 2019. Schedule and other details below.

Please feel free to attend all or part of the day. Lunch is Pot Luck, so please bring a side dish to share; the Center will provide a main dish and beverages. We are also having a Pie vs Cobbler "Smackdown," so if you feel inspired, please feel free to bake and bring a pie or cobbler.

9:00 Morning chants and Sadhana of Kindness, led by Shastri Rayna Jacobson
10:15 Welcome from Director of Societal Health & Well-being Mark Douglass

Please register to help us plan—and please note in the remarks box what kind of dish you'll bring (meat, dessert, veggie, gluten free, vegan, etc.). Portland Shambhala Center will provide a main dish to share.

Can you volunteer in support of this day? There are a number of volunteer roles that need to be filled, and we'll send out a message about them soon. In the meantime, if you'd like to sign up, email [email protected]tland.shambhala.org.

For this event, we're asking everyone's help in creating a poster-sized collective collage organized around a three-part theme: harvest, peace and appreciating where we are.

Do you have a related image that resonates with those concepts you can share with the sangha? If so, please email it to [email protected], or text it to (503) 975-7799. Any standard graphic image file type such as .jpg or .png should work. We're asking that you send the image to us no later than the evening of Wednesday Sept. 18th. We will put them together in a collage and get it printed for the celebration. (If you can’t submit a digital image beforehand and time permits, you can share an object and some words about it on the spot.)

In keeping with this idea of noticing and acknowledging the moment, each participant at Harvest of Peace each will then have the opportunity to say a few words about their image and why they chose it.

Also, any images including pumpkins will immediately be rejected! (Just kidding, we're joking.) Also, we have decided that a proposed pie throwing contest is too messy. However, there will be a Pie vs. Cobbler Smackdown, so if you are a baker, pre-heat that oven, and if you're a neutral, unaffiliated and nondiscriminating lover of both, please volunteer to be a judge.

The Sadhana of Kindness is a group practice that fosters the kindness necessary to fearlessly create enlightened society.
