Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a way to give back to the entire community, to lean into the path of service as practice, to learn about leadership in Shambhala—all while supporting the vision of an uplifted and kind society.

We welcome you to volunteer in any of these areas on your own, join in with a group or team, or work with the Volunteer Coordinator to form a team.  We aspire to building teams, community, and camaraderie, but also welcome people who prefer to work on their own.

These are our most immediate needs. If you are interested in helping in an area not listed here, please let us know what you are thinking about by contacting the volunteer coordinator. All ideas welcome!

Center Housekeepers: The Housekeeping Team beautifully cares for the Center environment so that it uplifts all who enter it, supports their practice, and provides a gracious container for gathering and celebration. Tasks include vacuuming, dusting, washing dishes, and taking out trash and recycling. Time Commitment: 1 hour a week, preferably on Friday morning or afternoon, rotating shifts. Center housekeepers must already have key access to the Center.

Community Practice Hospitality Support: Practice Team Hospitality Helpers create beautiful food offerings for meditators and tidy up the tea dishes at the end of the practice session social time. Time Commitment: 30 minutes to 1 hour per practice session; weekly on Tuesday evenings and monthly on first Sundays.
