What outreach feels like
When I heard that the outreach team was meeting, I asked them if it would be OK to interview them about their experience. They had divided up a list of community members and tried to call them a couple of times since the beginning of the COVID-19 quarantine.
Their experience varied widely: some people couldn’t be reached at all or for a phone call, others could only be reached by email or text message. A couple of phone calls lasted and hour and a half! As a whole the outreach team felt like talking with people was satisfying for them and that the people they reached really appreciated the contact. It was a reminder that our community is built up one conversation or one relationship at a time. And it became clear that during this quarantine we are reinventing society once again.
