Our workshop is taught by meditators with decades of experience

This months teacher's are David Parker and Kristen Mullen.

David Parker

David Parker is grateful to the patient students of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, including his current teacher, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, who helped a skeptical beginner start a regular meditation practice in Boston 25 years ago, and led him step by step under his own power into a larger view. He has been active in the Portland Shambhala Center since he moved here 20 years ago, and is currently a teacher, a meditation instructor, and coordinator of the Tuesday night open house talks. He works part time as a scientist and professor at OHSU, where he and his students study how the cells of the immune system communicate with each other.

Kriten Mullen

Kristen Mullen – took refuge with Trungpa Rinpoche in 1986. And is a second generation Shambhalian because her mother was a student ofTrungpa. She’s been studying at Maitripa College, getting a Masters in Divinity – it’s Gelukpa Tradition, so slightly different from Shambhala, but still about Bodhicitta, so has the same essence.

How it Works
This introductory program is ideal for beginners as well as those who would like to stabilize and deepen their meditation experience. We offer this program once a month, on a Saturday morning or a weekday evening.

The class starts with introductions and meditation instruction, followed by alternating periods of guided meditation and discussion. Instruction focuses on both technique on the cushion and how to integrate meditation in your daily life. There will be ample time to discuss your experience and receive individualized feedback.

Location
This workshop will take place at our rental space, the Portland Dhamma Center, located at 1404 SE 25th Ave, Portland, OR. Please enter through the lower side door (photo and parking map below). The doors will lock to new arrivals 10 minutes after the start of the program.

Meditation is a refuge from wild mind and a crazy world. This practice takes bravery.
