What biases and insights do we inherit from our society about homelessness?  How can we see the world that surrounds us in Portland more clearly?

Join us for a morning of meditation, inquiry and dialog where we bring the practice and perspective of meditation to our aid.  Behind the scenes, our unconscious beliefs about the nature and causes of homelessness are often propagated without reflection, and it is those beliefs that shape what we see on the streets.

Can our practice make a difference in understanding homelessness in Portland?  Can our collective inquiry suggest a stance, a view, or a set of behaviors that reflects a deeper understanding and seeing more clearly?

Our morning will consist of short periods of meditation, dialog, stories, and exercises.

Registration

Registration is requested. All proceeds will be donated to Join Portland, a  charity working to support people experiencing homlessness in memory of Barry Sutton, a homeless man who joined us in meditation on many Tuesday evenings. If you are unable to make a donation, please do not let this be a barrier to attending. You are still welcomed. We look forward to seeing you.
