Timebank coordinators reporting

Brian Landever sent along this report:

Cheerful day, Portland Shambhalians.

Our Timebank has finally taken its first steps in launching. “Timebanking” is a way to exchange services with one another at no cost, trading services among our greater Shambhala community while strengthening our ties. There are now 18 members, 10 services being offered, and 3 services being requested.

Current offers and requests range from music lessons to proof reading, and cooking help and minor auto-repair for example . Additional offers and requests could be anything under the moon: Tutor youth in math once a month, show folks how to prepare croissants from scratch, drive someone when they aren’t able to drive themselves or ask for a ride yourself, need someone to read the newspaper to your elderly parent? You are free to offer or request anything you’d appreciate and enjoy.

The next step is to celebrate the value of what we have begun. Making exchanges with one another is a practical level of realizing our inseparableness. It illuminates our hearts as we receive and offer, and simply allows us to care about one another in an active way for the day to day stuff. All it takes is showing up. Who wants to jump in first?
To join our Portland Shambhala Timebank, simply click here: https://hourworld.org/bank/Join.php?hw=1181. Registration only takes 2 minutes. If you ever have any questions about logins or entering your offers, please let us know.

I am happy to say that Taylor Hesselgrave is helping to boost our efforts. This blog is by us jointly, as she has volunteered to take an active role in pushing our Time Bank forward. She brings great experience, motivation, and a love for Shambhala. We will soon be organizing our Timebank kick-off event. If you’d like to share ideas or be involved as well, please let us know.

In the GES,
